David: The Snowboard Man
Once upon a time, there was a boy called David who lived in New York. When he was 5 years old he went to Scotland. All the children that he met there were excellent at snowboarding and they laughed at him because he couldn’t do snowboarding very well. When he was back in New York he was disappointed but he got an idea: he would go to Scotland to learn more about snowboarding. He said that to his parents, and they accepted the plan but they told him that he had to earn the money he needed for travelling abroad; but to do that, he had to get a job. David started helping his father in the gas station and then, after some time, he worked on his own.
One day, when David was going to pay the plane ticket to finally go to Scotland, he discovered that someone had stolen the money that he had saved throughout the year. He called the police, he couldn’t feel worse in his life, because it was the opportunity to be the best snowboard man and it was lost. The police said to him that they were going to get the money back. He was very worried. Many days passed and finally the police called him. They said to him that someone had put the money in the entrance of the police station. David thought that he was the happiest and luckiest man ever.
He went to Scotland extraordinarily happy because he finally had the money, after that horrible experience.
In Scotland he made a friend who also did snowboarding. David didn’t have a board so
his friend sometimes gave him his own. He wanted to have his own board but he didn’t have money so he got a job in a shop selling skies, snowboards, boots and ski sticks.
When he had enough money to buy the board and pay a trainer, he started looking for
someone who could teach him. He spent years training and trying to do a trick but the
coach realised that doing a trick was the most difficult part for David so he told to
him that he had to start a class for tricks only.
He started taking classes with some boys who used to bother him. Also the teacher showed she didn’t like him either because David was not good at it. He tried to do a trick and he failed. He was determined to improve so he practiced and finally he could jump. David wanted to show the teacher his trick but he was very nervous so he couldn’t jump. He tried for second time and he did it. He was so happy that he kissed the teacher!!!
David called his family and told them what had happened. He also told them that he wanted them to come with him to Scotland.
Ten years later, when he was a professional, he was in the snow park doing tricks and
when he was going to do an invert five, realised that there was oil and a rope in the middle of the ramp. He broke his legs and couldn’t snowboard for a whole year. The ones that played that horrible joke on poor David were the ones who, when they were only 5 years old, had laughed at him. David took revenge, but with honour, becoming the best snowboard man ever seen and showing that when you want something badly, you just have to work to make it happen.
