A Lonely Woman
Everything became perfect in Susan’s life when she met Charlie. She was a beautiful, intelligent and very rich woman who lived in the biggest house of her town, in France, but she was getting old without meeting her real love. But everything was different after meeting Charlie, a fifty year-old gentleman, who didn’t have as much money as Susan, but they were happy together and money wasn’t a problem in their relationship.
Charlie was a very lonely man; he only had his sister, Victoria, a very attractive and intelligent woman, and his best friend, Mark, who was a little bit strange. He was very jealous of Susan because he was Charlie’s best friend since they were children and now that Charlie was in love with Susan he didn’t pay too much attention to him.
One day, Charlie decided to propose to Susan and she accepted immediately.
They got married and lived a normal life together. Susan had never been so happy in all her life: she was always in a good mood and with a smile on her face and Charlie seemed very pleased too. Everything was fine until something terrible happened.
One day, Charlie arrived at his home and saw that the entire floor was covered in blood. He walked to the kitchen and saw that Susan had been murdered. He immediately called the police.
The police arrived a few minutes later. They asked a lot of questions to Charlie and his sister who was also there. The police asked Victoria if anyone would have a reason to kill Susan. Immediately Victoria told them about Mark. She said he was a little bit crazy and was very jealous of Susan, so the police asked Charlie to call him, but he didn’t answer the calls.
A week later the police returned to Charlie’s house and tried to call Mark again but he had disappeared. They told Charlie and Victoria that they were almost sure he was the murderer and they would try very hard to catch him but it wouldn’t be easy. They also told him that they had taken a look at Susan’s will and she had left all her belongings and properties to him.
The policeman said goodbye and left the house. As the policeman left, Charlie and Victoria kissed. They were not siblings after all. He said he loved her and that everything went as they had planned. He picked up the phone and called Mark. He said that everything had gone as planned and told him to stay there in Argentina that he was going to send him a check for U$S 50.000 every month. He hung up the phone and shouted he was the luckiest man on Earth.
